Wyclef Jean Set To Run For President Of Haiti
A source close to WA source close to Wyclef Jean confirmed that the rapper/singer/producer will run for president of Haiti and will make the announcement Thursday, August 5.
As previously reported, Jean revealed to CNN that he had filled out the proper paperwork in order to enter the presidential race, although he was undecided.
Wyclef has been at the forefront of the recovery efforts in his homeland, following a tragic earthquake that ravaged the country last January.
Given his popularity and financial resources, analysts predict he would easily win the election, which is slated for November 28.
“I think if Wyclef is allowed to run he will have a straight victory,” political leader and former presidential candidate Himmler Rebu told Reuters yesterday.
Jean, who maintained his status as a citizen of Haiti, was in the country yesterday, where he was preparing for his upcoming campaign
